General Terms and Conditions

  1. Introduction
    1. think STEP International Education Consulting, LTD, a company registered in Republic of China (Taiwan), herein referred to as ‘think STEP’ or ‘We,’ set out the following terms and conditions upon which think STEP offers a user i.e. the person visiting the Site herein referred to as ‘You’ and ‘Your’ a licence to use the Site as well as our in-house Services.
    2. By using any of the Services and the Site, You expressly agree to be bound by this Licence and all applicable laws and regulations governing the Site and the Services. The Licence forms a legally binding agreement between You and think STEP in relation to Your use of the Site and/ or the Services and applies to all users of the Services whether registered or not on the Site and who may also be contributors of UGC posted on the Site.
    3. You should read the Licence carefully and ensure that You understand the effect before proceeding to use the Site and/ or the Services. If You disagree with any part of the Licence, do not use the Site for the purpose of the Services. If You violate the Licence, think STEP may terminate Your use of the Site, bar You from future use of the Site, and/or take appropriate legal action against You. think STEP reserves the right to change the terms of this Licence at any time without notice, effective immediately upon posting on the Site. You agree that think STEP will treat Your use of the Site and/ or the Services as acceptance of the terms of this Licence going forward including Your continued use subsequent to any changes being posted on the Site.
  2. Proprietary Rights
    1. As between you and us, we own, solely and exclusively, all rights, title and interest in and to the Site, all the content (including, for example, audio, photographs, illustrations, graphics, other visuals, video and copy), software, code, data, and the look and feel, design and organization of the Site, including but not limited to any copyrights, trademark rights, patent rights and other intellectual property and proprietary rights therein. Your use of the Site does not grant to you ownership of any content, software, code, data or materials you may access on the Site.
    2.  Trademark
      1. Trademarks, logos, service marks and trade names (collectively the “Trademarks”) that are ours or Trademarks of any third party displayed on the Site or on content available through the Site may not be used unless authorized by the trademark owner. All Trademarks not owned by us that appear on the Site or on or through the Site’s products and services, if any, are the property of their respective owners. Nothing contained on the Site should be construed as granting, by implication, estoppel, or otherwise, any license or right to use any Trademark displayed on the Site without our written permission or that of the third party rights holder. Your misuse of the Trademarks displayed on the Site is strictly prohibited.
    3. Licensing
      1. You may access and view the content on the Site on your computer or other internet compatible device, and make single copies or prints of the content on the Site for your personal, non-commercial use only. To the extent you need to download software or documentation to use the products or services on the Site, we grant you a limited, non-assignable, non-transferable, revocable license to use such materials solely to utilize such products or services. Such license will terminate when you no longer use the products or services. The Site and the products and services offered on or through the Site, including any content and materials on the Site, are only for your personal, non-commercial use. We reserve the right to change or make corrections to the operation of, or any information available on, the Site at any time and without prior notice. For our mobile applications, we grant you a nonexclusive, non-transferable, worldwide, and perpetual license to perform, display, and use the mobile application for your personal, non-commercial use only.
      2. Prohibition of Reselling Content
        1. You may not re-sell or take commission from any content displayed or offered on our site.
    4. Submitted Materials
      1. We have unlimited right to use student-produced material in our promotional materials or in order to improve our own curriculum
      2. (a) Any ideas, suggestions, survey responses, or testimonials that you submit to us or information you submit or post to our chat rooms, message boards, and/or our blogs (“Submitted Materials”) will be deemed not to be confidential and may be used by us for any purpose. By submitting or sending Submitted Materials to us, you: (i) represent and warrant that the Submitted Materials are original to you, that no other party has any rights thereto, and that any “moral rights” in Submitted Materials have been waived, and (ii) grant us and our affiliates a royalty-free, unrestricted, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive and fully transferable, assignable and sublicensable right and license to display, use, reproduce, incorporate, modify, create derivative works of and distribute such material (in whole or part). We are not responsible for maintaining any Submitted Material that you provide to us and we may delete or destroy any such Submitted Material at any time.
      3. (b) For any academic source materials such as textbooks and workbooks which you submit to us in connection with our online tutoring services, you represent and warrant that you are entitled to upload such materials under the “fair use” doctrine of copyright law. In addition, if you request that our system display a representation of a page or problem from a textbook or workbook, you represent and warrant that you are in proper legal possession of such textbook or workbook and that your instruction to our system to display a page or problem from your textbook or workbook is made for the sole purpose of facilitating your tutoring session, as “fair use” under copyright law.
    5. Photography and Filming of Students/Classroom
      1. You agree that we may record all or any part of any live online or in-person classes and tutoring sessions (including voice chat communications and videos) for quality control, marketing, and other purposes. You agree that we own all transcripts and recordings of such sessions, and you hereby irrevocably assign to us all rights in all such transcripts and recordings.
  3. Conduct/Permitted (and Restricted) Use of Site/Client Obligations
    1. You may view and print Site pages for personal use but may not download Site pages. All such use is only allowed for your own personal non-commercial use.
    2. We, at any time, may edit or delete publicly posted comments or content on the site that we deem to be false or morally offensive.
    3. Avoiding Scammers
      1. You may not spider, scrape, or any other action on the Site intended to scam or defraud us or any User.
      2. Classroom Behavior/Expulsion
        1. Respect classroom rules. Any sort of verbal, physical, or other abuse by a student (either online or in-person) shall not be tolerated and may result in expulsion without refund.
  4. Communication Rules
    1. By signing up for a think STEP program or for our mailing list, you grant think STEP the right to use any methods (such as but not limited to email, telephone, SMS, etc.) to communicate with students and parent/guardians. Communication may be promotional or training purposes. think STEP also has the right to collect feedback from parents/students to improve future user experiences.
    2. Privacy Policy
      1. We may from time to time ask you for Personal Information, and we may collect certain information from your device each time you visit our Site. We may also receive Personal Information from third parties with whom we have a business relationship, including our organizational customers, resellers, licensees, and franchisees. “Personal Information” means personally identifiable information and includes, for example, your name; street address; e-mail address; SMS or text message address; phone number; credit card and other payment information; information regarding your academic and extracurricular activities and interests that may identify you; and other information that may identify you as an individual or allow online contact with you.
    3. Cookies Policy
      1. If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
    4. Embedded Content, Links to/from other websites
      1. Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. The copyright of all embedded content belongs to their respective owners.
  5. Disclaimers
    1. While think STEP exerts its utmost effort to improve student performance, think STEP cannot guarantee increased performance.
    2. Property Damage, Liability, and Insurance
      1. Student shall be responsible for any damage that he or she causes to think STEP property or any other students, teachers, or individuals involved in the think STEP classroom.
    3. Disclaimer of Warranties
      1. Although we make our utmost effort to secure our Site, we cannot guarantee preventing of any third-party intrusions.
      2. We are not responsible for third-party content.
    4. Legal Issues/Arbitration Rules
      1. You will be held responsible if you break this Terms and Conditions agreement.
      2. Any disagreement between client and think STEP that leads to legal action shall be decided by a think STEP-appointed arbitrator in Taipei City, Republic of China (Taiwan).
    5. Force Majeure
      1. Where a Force Majeure Event gives rise to a failure or delay in either party performing its obligations under this Agreement (other than obligations to make payment), those obligations will be suspended for the duration of the Force Majeure Event.
    6. Updated Terms and Conditions supersede previous versions
      1. We have right to change terms at any time.


  1. Program and Payment Information
      1. Fee Structure
        1. Unless otherwise stated, tuition fees EXCLUDE materials. For first-time students, a one-time reference material fee applies, for which students will receive reference books such as special dictionaries.
        2. For first-time and returning students, each semester will require a material fee in addition to tuition.
          Tuition quotes do not include sales tax
        3. Payment Options
          1. Parents may use bank transfer or credit card to pay tuition fees.
          2. We reserve the right to change conditions for credit card payments, including but not limited to: charging a processing fee and allowing deposit-only payments.
        4. Payment Deadline
          1. Payment must be 100% complete 5 business days after the day of reservation. Otherwise, reservation in the classroom will be cancelled.
        5. Price Validity
          1. think STEP has the right to raise prices, offer discounts, or end promotions at any time.
    2. Refund/Cancellation Terms
      1. Group Class
        1. Because of the group nature of weekly group classes, these classes cannot be made up on an individual basis. Any missed material may be repeated in the weekly individual class, as time permits.
        2. If think STEP cancels a group class, it shall be made up by the end of the term.
      2. Individual Class
        1. Individual class must be cancelled more than 48 hours before class time to avoid forfeiture of the class. Any makeup class must be recovered by the last day of the term.
        2. For family emergencies, any cancellation within 48 hours of class time may be forfeited or recovered on a case-by-case basis, to be determined by think STEP.
        3. If think STEP cancels an individual class, it shall be made up by the end of the term. If the class is not made up by the end of the term, student will receive a pro-rated credit (amount determined by think STEP) applicable to the next term’s tuition.
      3. Terms for FULL cancellation
        1. If a student cancels during the first month of a semester term, student shall receive 50% refund, using original payment method..
        2. If a student cancels during the first week of a winter or summer term, student shall receive 50% refund, using original payment method.
      4. Non-refundable cancellation fees
        1. All cancellations require a 3000 NT fee, which will be deducted from the refund amount.
      5. Switching Sections
        1. During the first two weeks of a semester session, a student may switch section as space allows. Student is responsible for catching up on any and all homework.
      6. Minimum Enrollment Requirement:
        1. Each section has a minimum student requirement in order for the section to continue as scheduled. If a section is cancelled, think STEP will offer placement in an alternative section that fits the student’s schedule. If no fit can be made, the student will have a choice of reserving funds for the next term or requesting a full refund.
      7. Due to our unique think STEP class structure, each student’s class performance impacts the overall performance of the class. If student effort does not meet class expectations, we have the right to require additional tutoring courses (at your expense) or refuse service for the next term.
    3. Semester Structure and Product Content (Company Obligations)
      1. Each semester term and/or product will clearly indicate the length of the class as well as any holidays. Typically, there will be no semester classes during the weeks of: National Day (October 10), Thanksgiving, Christmas Break, Chinese New Year Break, and Spring Break.
      2. For programs that combine group classes with 1-on-1 tutoring sessions, we cannot guarantee that the group teacher and tutor will be the same individual; in such cases, the group teacher will inform the tutor of what to concentrate on with the student during his or her 1-on-1 session.
    4. Scheduling Classes
      1. Group and 1-on-1 classes have a fixed schedule–same time slot every week. Student can only reserve same 1-on-1 timeslot for next semester if student pays for next semester before the current semester has concluded.

  2. Referral Program
    1. We appreciate word-of-mouth recommendations, and as such we offer the User a one-time credit (value may vary on a case-by-case basis) when the User recommends a referral who signs up for a semester program. Only one credit can be granted to the User for each referred student. User may not claim more than one credit for referring one student.
