When conducting self-discovery tests, ThinkSTEP learned that this student’s most unique hobby was solving jigsaw puzzles of dramatic sizes, up to and beyond 3,000 pieces! Seeing this opportunity, ThinkSTEP encouraged this student to participate in a national jigsaw puzzle contest, where he achieved Top 5 in pairs and Top 3 in individual two years in a row! After completing a summer internship at a cardiologist’s office, he wrote an application essay comparing the shared complexities of puzzle solving and medical diagnosis. Because the University of Chicago emphasizes academics and scholarly pursuits even in the leadership sphere, our student had the qualifications and was ultimately admitted to U. of Chicago!
